Tune Talk Sizzles Up Le Tour de Langkawi

PETALING JAYA, 25 February 2010 – Tune Talk, the country’s newest mobile service provider will be heating up the 15th Edition of Asia’s premier cycling event, Le Tour de Langkawi (LTDL) 2010 by participating in the Tour’s cavalcade procession from 26 February – 7 March.
Tune Talk’s striking red and white car will be part of LTDL’s cavalcade procession that starts with a pre-event tour starting off at the LTDL Headquarters in Bukit Jalil, Kuala Lumpur heading for Kuantan on Friday 26 February. From Kuantan, the convoy will be going to Kuala Terengganu on Saturday and then Kota Bharu on Sunday to prepare for the LTDL official flag-off the following day.

While stopping overnight in Kuantan and Kuala Terengganu, various fun-filled activities including artiste performances, games and lucky draws will be held at the Berjaya Mega Mall, Kuantan and Dataran Batu Burok, Kuala Terengganu.

Maxis Posts RM503m Q4 Profit

Maxis Bhd registered a net profit of RM503mil on revenue of RM2.2bil for the fourth quarter ended Dec 31, supported by an increase in total mobile subscriptions, postpaid average revenue per user (Arpu) and non-voice revenue.

In a statement, chief executive officer Sandip Das said mobile subscriptions increased 5% from the third quarter, bringing the total to 12.3 million, driven by prepaid and wireless broadband users.

Versus the preceding quarter, its arpu for postpaid grew 4% to RM107 while prepaid Arpu slipped RM1 to RM40. Non-voice revenue rose 8% to RM714mil due to an increase in SMS and advanced data services.

Maxis declared an interim dividend of six sen and proposed a final dividend of three sen. The payout will amount to RM675mil in addition to the RM450mil paid in the third quarter, bringing total dividends for the financial year ended Dec 31 (FY09) to RM1.125bil.

Tune Talk Aims For More

Mobile virtual network operator Tune Talk is confident it will be able to surpass the one million-subscriber mark within the its first year of operation.
Tune Talk was launched six months ago and it recently announced that it now has over 600,000 subscribers.

“We aim to achieve our target by boosting our distribution channels, adding more service features as well as more exciting promotions and deals,” said Tune Talk chief executive officer Jason Lo.

Celcom Big Investment In Sabah, Sarawak

Cellular telephone service provider Celcom Axiata Berhad is planning to spend much of a RM1bil investment on improving the company’s services in Sabah and Sarawak.

Celcom Axiata senior vice-president (enterprise services) Farid Yunus said the investment would expand voice services and 3G broadband coverage in the two states.
Farid said, in Sabah alone, Celcom Axiata was increasing the number of base stations by 100 this year.

“As a government-linked company, we have big responsibilities and intend to fulfil them,” he said at the launch of Celcom Axiata’s Blacberry Bold 9700 by State Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister Datuk Masidi Manjun recently.

Called ‘Belia Survey 2010’, it is a comprehensive survey aimed to encourage youths between the age of 15 and 40 years, to express their thoughts and ideas.

Maxis Targets More Commercial Buildings

Maxis Bhd has targeted between 100 to 150 new commercial buildings for its telecommunication services this year, vice president and head of enterprise and carrier business, Fitri Abdullah, said yesterday.The company was looking at buildings mainly in the Klang Valley, Penang and Johor Baharu, he said.
Maxis has to date connected 340 buildings after having provided its services to over 100 new buildings last year.

“We have also done smart partnerships with developers. End of last year, we signed an agreement with Cyberjaya to provide end-to-end solutions,” Fitri told reporters after the signing of strategic collaborative agreement between Maxis and Macro Lynx Sdn Bhd here.

TM Sasarkan 20 Peratus Kadar Penembusan Jalur Lebar

Telekom Malaysia(TM) mensasarkan untuk menyumbang lebih 20 peratus kadar penembusan jalur lebar di Sarawak menjelang hujung tahun ini.Pengurus Besar TM Sarawak Omar Zaki Mustafa berkata, TM sebagai sebuah syarikat telekomunikasi akan memainkan peranan untuk mencapai sasaran selari dengan saranan kerajaan, iaitu 50 peratus kadar penembusan jalur lebar seluruh negara menjelang hujung tahun 2010.
“Suruhanjaya Komunikasi dan Multimedia (SKMM) mensasarkan 50 peratus penembusan jalur lebar menjelang penghujung tahun ini dan sasaran berkenaan bukan untuk TM sahaja, bahkan juga semua pengusaha termasuk P1, Redtone, Digi dan Maxis,” katanya kepada pemberita selepas menghadiri seminar Premium Perusahaan Kecil dan Sederhana (SME) Biz Net 2010 TM.

DiGi Telecommunications Sdn Bhd (DiGi) aims to grow its mobile Internet services, Turbo Third Generation (3G) network in Sarawak by targeting small and medium enterprises (SMEs) as well as entrepreneurs as part as its smart business solution plan.
Its Sarawak regional head, Benny Wee, pointed out that as businesses currently require fast Internet connection to speed up business transactions, its Turbo 3G mobile Internet services offer the exact solution for them.

20 Perjanjian Di Sabah Dan 18 Di Sarawak

Kita sudah banyak mendengar mengenai persefahaman 20 Perkara apabila Sabah dan Sarawak ingin menubuhkan Malaysia bersama Malaya. Ketiga – tiga negara ini bersetuju kepada beberapa perjanjian, yang dikenali sebagai persefahaman 20 Perkara yang memberikan Sabah dan Sarawak pemerintahan sendiri. Persefahaman 20 Perkara ini adalah asas kepada “jalinan dan melindungi hak” penduduk Sabah dan Sarawak.
Tetapi, selepas 45 tahun, kerajaan Persekutuan bukan sahaja tidak memperdulikan perjanjian tersebut malah menukar “peraturan” tersebut tanpa kebenaran Sabah dan Sarawak. Kesannya, penduduk Sabah dan Sarawak berasa tidak puas hati kerana mereka merasa “dipencilkan” dan “diabaikan” serta “dipinggirkan” oleh Barisan Nasional (BN) yang diterajui UMNO.

Sabah dan Sarawak sudah dan terus berusaha dalam memainkan peranan kepada Malaysia tetapi tidak bagi Malaya dan hanya mereka yang tahu mengapa mereka tidak berpegang pada janji.
